Tico's Surf School

I had a blast doing a beginner surf lesson with Jafet! He was very accomodating of the varying skill level between my slightly more advanced friend and me. This was the most manageable beginner surf area I have ever tried, and instead of feeling waterlogged I felt accomplished and eager to try surfing again! Thank you Tico’s Surf School!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Our daughters have never surfed and did their first surf lesson with Ticos Surf School last week. They had a blast and learned a lot. Pablo was their instructor. He and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

We went to Ticos as first time surfers and it was incredible! Our lesson with Javier was informative and so much fun!By the time we got into the water, Javier had us standing in no time!

By the end of the 1.5 hour lesson, we were learning to catch our own waves! He was attentive and knew when to help and when to let us try on our own. This is a must do if you are visiting Sámara and one of the highlights of our whole trip!

Incredible surf school. We had a large group take lessons, and they were incredibly organized and professional. They had rash guards for all of our students, provided a clear and concise demonstration, and broke us into smaller groups to practice on the sand before getting in the water. I felt completely safe and was able to get surf on my second try because of their great coaching. Loved the photos they sent to us following the lesson too!

Had a great time with our teachers Emerson and Javi. They took excellent care of us and we were able to practice solo the second day and progress further. Absolutely recommended. Pura Vida!

No wonder Ticos is so highly recommended by….everyone! Reserving was a breeze and everyone we interacted with was so friendly and outgoing!
I reserved a private lesson with Jafet. Just wow! He was the one that greeted me, reviewed the basics, and got me out on the water quickly. After every wave, he would give me tips for the next. He was easy to understand, clear, and very conversational. Jafet was full of high fives and encouraging words. Having been surfing a few times before, Jafet taught me what to look for when I go by myself and I feel so much more confident after our lesson. He made it feel like I was surfing with a friend. 10/10, 100%, highly recommend!

Ticos Surf School is absolutely amazing! We went as a family and had the most fun!

We did a group lesson as a family, and the manager, Pablo, assigned us two instructors instead of just one (without charging extra). Both instructors, Javier and Jafet, were very patient and were great with the kids (and us adults!). After each wave they gave us advice to fix things so we could have the most successful, smooth ride in.

None of us had surfed before, yet the instructors had all of us standing on the board and riding waves in. We were especially impressed that they got our littlest one to stand up and get a couple of good rides in as well.

After our youngest decided he was done, we continued to surf, and Pablo came and sat with him, talking and taking pictures together while we finished our lesson. Overall, this experience was a highlight of our time in Samara.

We highly recommend Ticos; epecially if you have kids who are excited to get in the water!
